SPARE THE ROD, SPOIL THE CHILD???

HAPPY
MOTHER'S
DAY

Yes, I am aware that i'm late.

I would like to say thank you to my mom. She is smart, funny, and so supportive. I love our many phone calls and I miss her incredibly. My girls love to hear stories from Grams, and love to roast chilies with her. This is also one of my favorite memories, my girls helping my mom make her famous green chile. I thought it would be way too spicy for them and made them cheese quesadillas instead. There was NO WAY they were missing out on the green chile! they ate sooo much! and were full of giggles later when they tooted the night away. Ha! they still talk about wanting grams to make green chile with them. It was magical for me to watch the family traditions passed along from grandmother to granddaughter.. Thank you for being so amazing! I love you mom

Another amazing mother I know is Toby's mom, aka Grandma Sue! She is such a fun, down to earth, smart lady! She also managed to raise the most incredible man ever! Another really neat thing is that she is the best mother in law anyone could ever hope for. She has been so sweet and loving to me, and I have loved getting to know her more year by year. She is always up for an adventure and is also so strong! she can swim, run, walk circles around me..it is so neat to see! I love our talks, aka tea chats..although I think tea is rarely involved. I also love how much she loves my girls. she is always up for a tea party, dance off, stories, etc.
Thank you for being so wonderful! I love you!

And also, to the man who made me a mother
Thank You! for your love, support, and compassion! It helps me be a better mom, and ultimately, person.
I love you so

My mother's day involved painting these

so we could fill them with these
no, it is not poo
they are seed balls the children made for me at school

And then we went fishing.
Note: fishing in Hawaii, on the rocky side is a popular sport.

Avery, picking out her own rod

So far so good. Bait? (a huge sqid, btw) check
8.5 foot rod? check
Eager would-be fishermen, (girls?)

I decided to scope out the spot...um, starting to feel uneasy....
this picture does not do this justice..can you say 40 ft drop off into a RAGING ocean

Have you ever been to Yellowstone??
We were standing over hollow lava tubes, so the roar of the ocean was loud, powerful, amazing
And ocasionally, a wave would shoot up over the cliff. Remember how high the cliff was? that is one HUGE wave!
I walked back to my little family and said,"Absolutely Not!"
As for me, I think I need to go fishing with more experienced with "Shore fishing"
First Question, "shouldn't there be a shore?"
Alas, I played with my girls safely and soundly away from the shore.
Toby, of course, was going to give it a try.

He looked so handsome.
And then the ocean took the rod.
Better the rod than the child!
Here's to staying safe!!!

Happy Mothers Day
(especially those single moms out there! you guys are amazing!)

I can hardly believe that she is big enough for this

Agghh! Where did my baby go?
I remember when I would imagine what she would be like as a two year old, four year old, and six year old. At the time, it seemed unfathomable that she would ever be so big.
Sophie: you are even MORE amazing than I ever imagined. And so smart. Wow.

My little shadow.. I love you so.

P.S.
For those of you who are kind enough to inquire about the hand, I only have another week and a half in a half cast! I only have a very small crack in my bone. I can't imagine if I broke the bone in half, as I was in so much pain with just a little crack. Wimpy wimpy wimpy.

HOPE YOUR WEEKEND WAS FUN TOO!
